A Seaside Hotel Website for Holiday Guests and Business Travellers Alike

Corvessa sells two kinds of stay from the same building. One guest wants the infinity pool and breakfast in bed. Another needs the conference room and fast wifi. We built one page that serves both, opening on a sunset over the sea and a price of $50 a night.

The brief

Some Guests Come for the Pool. Others Come for the Conference Room.

The Problem

Hotel sites tend to pick one guest and talk only to them. A resort page full of sunsets tells the business traveller this isn’t their hotel, and a corporate page tells the couple it isn’t theirs. Either way, a guest who would have been happy leaves for a travel site that lists both.

The Goal

Open on the sea and a starting price, take dates straight away, then let the facilities speak to both guests at once. Keep the booking close, with a book now button in the header and a book your stay today panel near the end.

Who it’s for

Couples on a seaside holiday and business travellers in town for a meeting or a conference. Both compare rooms and rates on the hotel’s own site before they book.

The visual system

The Teal Is Borrowed From the Rooms Themselves.

The room photos are full of sea greens and aqua, so slate teal carries the header, the rooms band and the footer. Deep ink holds the headlines and the band of figures. Soft white and pale grey sit between them. A light serif sets the headings, quiet enough for a spa and formal enough for a conference.

The decisions

How the Design Solves It

Four choices that let one page speak to two kinds of guest.

The View, the Price and the Dates in One Screen

A sunset over the sea fills the hero, with a starting price of $50 a night under the headline. On the photo, a white bar for dates, guests and children ends in a check rates button. Setting, cost and availability are settled before the first scroll.

Facilities for Both Kinds of Guest

Six photo cards cover the infinity pool, the spa, the fitness centre, the restaurant and bar, the business centre and the conference room. Couples notice the first three. A business traveller sees the last two and stops looking elsewhere.

Every Room With Its Rate

The deluxe, park view and superior rooms sit on a slate teal band as large photo cards with the nightly price, size and guests on each. Six services follow later, from airport pick-up to private parking. Nothing about the cost is left to the booking engine.

A Booking Ask at Both Ends

The book now button stays in the header from the first screen. Near the end, a pale panel with a book your stay today headline asks again, after the services and the guest review. A guest who reads the whole page meets the ask twice and never has to look for it.

The walkthrough

Ten Sections, Two Guests, One Page

Pick a section to see it in the design and who it is written for.

  1. A sunset sea view through a room window, a light serif headline with a price per night, and a white bar for dates, guests and children.

  2. A welcome headline beside two photos of a room and the pool, with six short facts and a discover more button.

  3. Room cards on a slate teal band with the nightly rate, size, guests and breakfast, and arrows to see more.

  4. Six facilities in photo cards, from the infinity pool and spa to the conference room, and a view all bar.

  5. A promise of luxury and tailor-made service over a dim room photo with a play button, then a five-star review from a travel site.

  6. Six services with icons, from airport pick-up to private parking, beside a bright bedroom photo.

  7. Four large figures on a deep ink band.

  8. A pale panel with ornaments, a book your stay today headline and a book now button.

  9. Three news cards with photos, dates and categories, the middle one in slate teal.

  10. A strip of Instagram photos, then a newsletter, links, a gallery and the contact details in a teal panel.
